Amour Hauz Khaz Village

Bucolic and tranquil, Amour is tailor-made for Delhi’s rain-soaked monsoons and chilly winters, with a patio that offers one of the best views of the village. The resto-bar, which is one of the classiest joints in HKV, also has a large dining room and an out-of-the-way lounge area boastful of an extensive wine as well as several cocktails. Try and grab a seat outdoors on their elevated wooden deck immersed in sunlight or candlelight. While the dining room is warm with a bar on the side, the patio has a wood-fire oven and grill in the centre. Amour offers a quixotic venue where you can ponder over brews and blends like the Smoked Sangria. With an Italian influenced Mediterranean menu, their freshly baked bread served with herb and garlic butter is a sign of what to expect from the kitchen. The Three Cheese Soufflé is indulgent and the King Prawns from the grill are spot on, but the wood-fired pizzas are their biggest draw with a homely Tuscany (tomato, mozzarella, mushroom) and an unusual Smoked Salmon (mozzarella, smoked salmon, cream cheese) being the favourites. Lax fusion music makes for the perfect background score as you hold a conversation here over nibbles and munchies.

Accurately a restaurant for all seasons, whether you go in the monsoon, winter or summer. In pleasant weather, it is acclaimed to sit on the terrace and look out on to the Hauz Khas tank. For the rest of the year, you can sit in the enclosed space and watch the weather outside, day or night. One of the only places in the Village to have a lift, it saves you from climbing endless stairs.

The food is rather ambitious Modern European. Roast Pumpkin and Cheddar Soup, Maryland Crab Cakes, Chicken Ras al Hanout and Three Cheese Soufflé are good options. In general, you don’t go to Amour to eat, you go there to spend an evening or an afternoon.
